Proyecto Caimán Negro

Proyecto Caimán Negro is a flagship initiative of ARCA dedicated to advancing the science, protection, and sustainable future of Melanosuchus niger. We are building a world-class research and conservation facility in Iquitos, Peru, designed specifically for the study, rehabilitation, and captive breeding of this poorly understood species.

To achieve this vision, we are seeking strategic partners, accredited zoos, conservation institutions, foundations, and major donors, who share our commitment to preserving biodiversity through science-driven action.

Your support will directly fund:

  • Construction of state-of-the-art breeding and research enclosures

  • Veterinary and incubation facilities

  • Field research and population monitoring

  • Training programs for local conservationists

  • Long-term genetic management of captive populations

By partnering with Proyecto Caimán Negro, sponsors don’t just fund a facility, they become founding stakeholders in a landmark conservation effort that will produce research, breeding success, and global collaboration for decades to come.

Join us in building the world’s leading center for Black Caiman conservation.

Become a founding sponsor and help secure the future of this keystone species.
